About the Harrison River
The Harrison River drains Harrison Lake into the Fraser near the town of Harrison Hot Springs, and its lake-buffered flow makes it one of the more consistently fishable tributaries in the valley — glacial silt and rainfall runoff both settle out in the lake before reaching the river, so the Harrison tends to clear and stay clear faster than open-mountain systems after a freshet. It's best known for a strong fall chum run and good coho, with chinook and some winter steelhead also present through the system and its feeder creeks. The lower river near the highway bridge and the stretch through Kilby Provincial Park are the most accessible bank-fishing water, with boat access also common given the river's width and steady flow lower down. Because clarity holds up relatively well here even when neighbouring rivers blow out, the Harrison is a common fallback pick for anglers chasing fishable water during a wet stretch — checking its live level alongside the Vedder's is a standard part of planning a Fraser Valley fishing day in shoulder-season rain.
